How the App Works

Caniswim operates by:

1. Fetching public data: The app downloads publicly available beach water quality information from Vancouver Coastal Health's website
2. Local processing: All data processing and display happens entirely on your device
3. Local storage: Your favorite beaches and app preferences are stored only on your device using iOS's standard app storage

No personal data is sent to our servers or any third-party services.

Data Source

The beach water quality information displayed in Caniswim comes from public reports published by Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). This data is:

• Publicly available information
• Not associated with your personal identity
• Accessed directly from VCH's public resources

Note: Caniswim is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Vancouver Coastal Health.

Your Favorites and Preferences

When you mark beaches as favorites or adjust app settings:

• This information is stored locally on your device only
• It is never transmitted to external servers
• It remains private to you and your device
• If you delete the app, this information is permanently removed

Third-Party Services

Caniswim does not integrate with or use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app operates independently without external dependencies beyond fetching public beach data.

iOS App Store

While Caniswim itself doesn't collect data, please note that:

• App downloads and updates are handled by Apple's App Store
• Apple may collect standard app download and usage statistics
• This data collection is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours

Changes to This Policy

If we ever need to update this privacy policy, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify users through an app update if changes are significant
• Continue to prioritize your privacy in any changes we make
